I first made these bars for a holiday gift and they disappeared within minutes they quickly became a family favorite
Ingredients
- Chocolate Mixture: 2 cups (340 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips 1 can (14 oz / 400 g) sweetened condensed milk 1/4 cup (60 g) unsalted butter cubed 1 tsp pure vanilla extract 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon 1/2 tsp chili powder (adjust to taste) 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper (optional for extra heat) 1/2 tsp sea salt
- Optional Toppings: 2 tbsp chopped roasted pistachios or almonds 1/2 tsp flaky sea salt 1/4 tsp crushed red chili flakes
Instructions
- Step 1:
- Line an 8-inch (20 cm) square baking pan with parchment paper leaving an overhang for easy removal
- Step 2:
- In a medium saucepan over low heat combine the chocolate chips sweetened condensed milk and butter Stir constantly until melted and smooth
- Step 3:
- Remove from heat Stir in vanilla extract cinnamon chili powder cayenne pepper (if using) and sea salt until well combined
- Step 4:
- Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and spread evenly with a spatula
- Step 5:
- Sprinkle chopped nuts flaky sea salt and chili flakes on top gently pressing them into the fudge if desired
- Step 6:
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until completely set
- Step 7:
- Lift the fudge out of the pan using the parchment overhang Cut into 16 bars with a sharp knife
- Step 8:
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week
